How to send money from the UK to Nigeria with GiffyPay
Sending pounds to a Nigerian bank account takes a few steps. Here is what to expect, from creating your account to getting your receipt.
Before your first transfer
You only do these once.
- Create your account. Sign up with your email, confirm the code we send you, and choose a password.
- Verify your identity. We ask for some personal details, your address, a photo of an ID document and a selfie. Regulations require this before you can send money.
Sending money, step by step
- Enter the amount. Type how much you want to send in pounds. You see what your recipient gets in naira straight away, using the rate shown on screen.
- Choose a recipient. Pick someone you have sent to before, or add a new recipient with their Nigerian bank name and account number.
- Choose how to pay. Pay with a debit card or a linked bank account.
- Review everything. The review screen shows the amount you send, the transfer fee, the exchange rate, what your recipient gets, the recipient’s bank details and when the money usually arrives. Nothing is sent until you confirm.
- Confirm with your PIN. Your transaction PIN confirms the transfer.
- Get your receipt. Your receipt shows every detail of the transfer and is saved in your transaction history, where you can also download a statement.
How long does it take? Transfers usually arrive within minutes once your recipient’s details are confirmed. Timings are estimates and are not guaranteed.
