How we protect your account
Sending money means trusting an app with your details. This is what you can use in GiffyPay to keep your account safe.
The protections in the app
- Identity verification. Before you can send money, we verify your identity with your details, address, an ID document and a selfie.
- A transaction PIN. Every transfer is confirmed with your PIN. You can change it in the app under Profile, then Set / Change PIN.
- Email 2-step verification (optional). When it is on, logging in also asks for a 6-digit code we send to your email. Turn it on under Profile, then 2-factor verification.
- Face ID login (optional). You can set up biometric login under Profile, then Biometric Login.
- Sending limits. Limits apply to every account, and they are higher once you verify more information. You can see yours under Profile, then Transfer limits.
- Review before you send. Nothing leaves your account until you have checked the review screen and confirmed with your PIN. Every transfer then appears in your transaction history with a receipt.
What you can do
- Never share your PIN or your verification codes with anyone. We will never ask for them.
- Use a password you do not use anywhere else.
- Switch on email 2-step verification and Face ID login.
- Check the recipient’s details on the review screen every time.
Where we are today. GiffyPay is a technology company, not a bank, and is not yet authorised or regulated by the FCA. Our regulatory application is in progress. We will describe our protections as exactly what they are, and no more.
